RIVERSTONE, INDIA
During the winter 2009-10 I spent a few months in the northern region of India, where the great holy river of Ganges pours out of the Himalayas, powerful, green and clean. Before the river hits the ocean some thousand kilometers further south the river has become much bigger, brown and dirty.
First I made the sun – which is an all time God winner in the world. People could watch the sun from high above in one of the many temples along the river, and so they did. A few weeks later I made the eye – to look back at all the people.
We are all about communication aren’t we – in one or the other way.
For me this stone exercise had no defined intention – it just happens as a consequence of the most obvious parameters present – my hands – and the stones.
